Sheet Music / Tablature of David's Classical Arrangements
Hear how some of David's many arrangements sound before you buy! All arrangements come with accurate tablature for non readers.
The Heart Asks Pleasure First (from "The Piano")
If you are feeling a little adventurous this makes a great encore piece. It's not easy by any means, but clear left and right hand fingerings are provided. The music comes in both sheet music only and sheet music/tablature form. |
Weiss Allemande
I "borrowed" (stole!) some authentic ornamentation from my colleague, David Miller for this arrangement, and they are all written out in full. By popular request, all of the arrangements on this site from now on will come with sheet music only as well as sheet music/tablature. As with the Prelude and Gigue below, this Allemande employs Weiss' campanella and slurring techniques direct from the baroque lute giving the arrangement a very authentic sound. Comprehensive fingering throughout.

Weiss Gigue

Ave Maria
This is perhaps the most famous setting of Ave Maria by Schubert. David has been influenced by Chet Atkins' version, though this is a little closer to the original score. Not a difficult piece but a very popular one. Four pages of music including tablature for non-readers. Remember the alternative tuning as indicated at the top of the score!!

Fur Elise
Usually associated with the piano, Fur Elise makes an excellent addition to the guitarist's repertoire. Many attempts at arranging this piece go "down the octave", but David has the main theme in the original key and register. We know that Giuliani, one of the great guitarists of the 1800s played in the premier of Beethoven's 7th symphony, possibly on the cello. David has attempted to make this arrangement sound in the same style as a Giuliani concert piece with very interesting results! Not an easy arrangement by any means. Almost every note is fingered, both right hand and left on account of the difficulty. As usual, the 5 page score includes tablature for non readers.

Weiss, Prelude in Eminor
This wonderful arrangement of the famous E minor (original Dm) Weiss prelude for Baroque lute uses the Weiss technique of slurs and campanella transcribed onto the classical guitar to achieve a style reminiscent of the instrument it was written for. Complete fingering of both left and right hands colour coded.

John Dowland, Praeludium
Use of capotasto, F# lute tuning and John Dowland's original fingering taken directly from 16th century tablature make this sound very close to the lute!
Pachabel's Canon in D
An accurate arrangement of one of the most famous pieces of classical music. Be warned, it has it's tricky moments!
